1 - THE BASICS
1.1 - WHAT IS UENME?UenMe is a fun and easy way to privately video chat with people who share your #interests, as well as experts of all kinds. You can talk for free, or charge for your time using our in-app currency. Users keep all money earned when cashing out.
1.2 - WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD UENME? WILL IT WORK ON MY DEVICE?You can click HERE or search for UenMe in the App Store. (Screenshots of steps HERE) UenMe requires iOS 9.0 or later, and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Android version coming in the future!
1.3 - HOW CAN I TELL IF I HAVE THE MOST CURRENT VERSION OF THE APP?We update UenMe frequently to make improvements and add features, so running the most current version of the app is important for all users!
Most phones will update apps automatically, but you can always check if there is an update available for download. From the App Store, tap Updates in the bottom right corner of your screen. If UenMe is shown on the list of apps with available updates, just tap Update!
1.4 - HOW CAN I CHANGE MY PHONE'S SETTINGS TO MAKE SURE UENME WORKS PROPERLY?If something is not working correctly when you are using UenMe, first make sure that you have enabled your in-app permissions.
View or adjust these by tapping the Settings icon on your iPhone (It should be on your home screen, unless you have moved it to another area). Scroll down until you find UenMe and tap. All items should be enabled, and you can customize your notification settings. To prevent missed calls, we recommend also enabling all notification options and setting your alert style to Alerts. 2 - YOUR ACCOUNT
2.2 - HOW DO I ADD OR CHANGE INFO AND #INTERESTS ON MY PROFILE?Tap in the bottom right corner of the app to go to your dashboard, then tap your username at the top of the screen, followed by Edit Profile.
To make changes, tap the area you'd like to change and make the additions or edits! To add an interest, tap What are you interested in? Type something you're interested in, and then hit Return to add it to your profile. To remove an interest, just tap the - symbol to the right of that interest. Any changes made here will be saved automatically.
You can also add interests when looking at someone else's profile - Just tap the + symbol next to their interest, and it will be added to your own #interest list!
2.3 - CAN I CHANGE MY USERNAME?No, usernames cannot be changed.
2.4 - HOW DO I RESET MY PASSWORD?Tap in the bottom right corner of the app to go to your dashboard, scroll down and tap Settings, then tap Change Password and enter the required info.
If you are unable to log in to a UenMe account which has an email or phone number associated with it, you can request a password reset by tapping Forgot Password? and entering your info.
2.5 - HOW DO I UPDATE AN EMAIL ADDRESS OR PHONE NUMBER ON MY ACCOUNT?Tap in the bottom right corner of the app to go to your dashboard, scroll down and tap Settings, then tap Password Recovery Options. You can opt to enter your email, your phone number, or both, then click Save.
3 - EXPLORING & CHATTING
3.1 - HOW CAN I FIND SOMEONE TO CHAT WITH?You can find fun people to chat with from the Discover section of UenMe!
Tap the magnifying glass at the bottom left of the app, and then you can browse recently active users (look for the @ icon at the top of the screen), search for people by interests (the # icon), or find contacts from your social networks (the people icon).
Using the Social tab, you can search for friends from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or your contact list who are also using UenMe, or invite them to use the app!
You can also search for contacts by name, username, or phone number, depending on their search settings.
3.2 - HOW DO I CALL SOMEONE?Making a call is super easy! You can tap on any green phone icon within the app to call that user. To confirm the rate of the call, just tap the green phone icon again to start dialing.
You can make calls right from the discover page, your favorites, or from threads on your Communication tab. You can also tap on a user's name to view their profile first, then call them by clicking the green Chat bar.
3.3 - HOW DO I ANSWER A CALL?Answering calls is super easy, too!
If you receive a call while in UenMe, your screen will display the caller's profile photo and name, plus the rate that they want to pay or earn. Tap the green phone icon to accept and start chatting, or tap the X to decline the call, and your caller will have the option to leave you a message. (Screenshots HERE)
While outside of the app, your phone will display a notification when you receive an incoming call, at the top of your screen. Open the notification, and you'll see the same options as above! (Screenshots HERE) Note: If your phone is locked, you will need to accept the call AND unlock your phone in order to chat.
If you are not receiving notifications or they are disappearing too quickly, you may want to adjust your notification settings - See section 1.4 of this FAQ.
3.4 - HOW CAN I SHOW IF I AM AVAILABLE OR UNAVAILABLE?Tap in the bottom right corner of the app to go to your dashboard. Your status button will be green when you are set to Available or red when you are Unavailable. (Your dashboard dot will be the same color!)
Make sure to set yourself to available whenever you want to take calls, and unavailable when you don't. UenMe's display algorithm favors available users who answer the most calls - Too many missed calls will work against you, plus your fans will be discouraged or frustrated if they have a hard time reaching you!
3.5 - HOW DO I MESSAGE SOMEONE?Users can send and receive messages any time they are not on a video call. Sending a message can be helpful to introduce yourself before a call, set up a call time, or negotiate prices.
You can send a message from a user's profile, even when they are unavailable to video chat - Just tap the chat bubble icon at the bottom right of their profile! You can also send a message from an existing thread on your Communication tab. (Screenshots HERE)
3.6 - WHERE CAN I SEE MY MESSAGES OR MISSED CALLS?Your Communication tab features a thread for each user you've interacted with. Each thread will display messages exchanged, plus notes about any calls between you and that person. To access your Communication tab, tap the chat bubble at the bottom of the app. (Screenshots HERE)
You will also receive a notification right after you've missed a call, with the option to call back. (Screenshots HERE)
3.7 - HOW CAN I DELETE MY MESSAGES OR CALL HISTORY?To delete a thread in your Communication tab, swipe the thread to the left and tap delete.
3.8 - HOW DO I ADD SOMEONE TO MY FAVORITES?To add someone to your favorites list, tap the white star to the right of their username in any area of the app. A blue star indicates a favorite user.
All of your favorite users will be saved to your favorites list so you can find them super easily, and you will also receive a notification whenever one of your favorites becomes available.
3.9 - HOW CAN I SHARE MY PROFILE?Sharing a link to your profile is an easy way to let your friends know how to reach you on UenMe!
To find your unique link, tap in the bottom right corner of the app to go to your dashboard. Your link is shown at the top of the screen - To share it, tap the link, and then tap Share Profile and choose one of the options listed. (Hint: Your link is super easy to remember! It is uenme.co/YourUsername)
When someone clicks or taps your link, they'll be taken straight to your profile if they already have UenMe. If they don't have the app yet, it will forward them to UenMe in the App Store, where they can learn more or download it!
3.10 - HOW SAFE / SECURE / PRIVATE IS UENME?UenMe uses end-to-end encryption to secure all of your video calls. Translation: all video communication is 100% private between you and the person on the other end!
To connect to other users, all that's necessary is sharing the username you choose. UenMe does not require you to disclose your legal name, phone number, or email address to use the app, which further protects your privacy. You may be required to dislose that information if you are buying or cashing-out your Uens
3.11 - HOW DO I BLOCK SOMEONE?You can block any user by tapping the three dots in the top right of their profile and selecting Block User. You can also block them by tapping the same three dots in the top right of your chat with them.
When blocked, users will not be able to see your profile or contact you through UenMe.
You can unblock a user or view a list of everyone you have blocked by tapping in the bottom right corner of the app to go to your dashboard, Scroll down to tap Settings, and then Manage Blocked Users.
4 - SPENDING & EARNING UENS
4.1 - WHAT ARE UENS?Uens (pronounced You-Ens) are the currency that the UenMe app uses to charge and pay for calls. 1 Uen is equivalent to 25 cents USD when you cash out.
After purchasing uens, you can use them to video chat with UenMe users such as experts, professionals, and social media influencers, who often charge for their time chatting on the app.
4.2 - HOW CAN I BUY UENS? WHAT METHODS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED?Tap in the bottom right corner of the app to go to your dashboard, then tap the Add Uens button. (Look for the button with the + sign.) You can use the dial to select the number of Uens you'd like to purchase, before you tap Buy Uens to enter your payment details. (Screenshots HERE)
You can purchase Uens via Apple Pay or any major credit card: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Maestro, JCB, Union Pay, or Diners Club International. Charges will be listed on your bank statement from UenMe, LLC.
Depending how many Uens someone buys, there will be a small fee added to the transaction. This is how UenMe can deliver on our promise to give 100% of the Uens earned to anyone selling their time.
Purchased uens can be used for up to 30 days from the time of purchase.
4.3 - HOW CAN I EARN UENS? WHERE DO I CHANGE THE AMOUNT I WANT TO CHARGE PER MINUTE?You can set or change your rate any time from your dashboard! Tap in the bottom right corner of the app, then adjust the dial accordingly. Once updated, your rate will save automatically!
You can also adjust your rate for individual calls - See the next three questions for details.
4.4 - CAN I PAY A DIFFERENT AMOUNT FOR A CALL?Maybe! When you place your call, you can adjust the dial to offer a different amount from that user's regular rate. Your offer may or may not be accepted, or they may not allow free or reverse charge calls at all.
If a user declines to chat for less, your best bet is try calling at their regular rate. You can also try messaging a user to negotiate a price before a call!
4.5 - CAN I CALL SOMEONE AND EARN UENS?You can call most users and charge for your time! When you place your call, just adjust the dial to the number of uens you would like to earn per minute. If a user does not allow free or reverse charge calls, the app will notify you.
When answering a call, users will see a red screen indicating that they are paying.
4.6 - WHAT IF I ONLY WANT TO ACCEPT PAID CALLS?If you do not want to allow free calls or reverse charge calls, you can block these types of calls.
Tap in the bottom right corner of the app to go to your dashboard, scroll down and tap Settings, then adjust the switch to indicate whether you'd like to block or allow free and reverse charge calls.
You will still be able to make calls free and reverse charge calls to any users who allow them, regardless of your own settings.
4.7 - HOW CAN I SEE HOW MANY UENS I'VE EARNED OR SPENT?During any paid call, you will see how many uens you have spent or earned during the call - The number of uens will be ticking up at the bottom of your screen. At the end of your call, it will confirm the total number of uens earned or spent.
You can also see what you earned or spent chatting with a particular user in their thread in your Communication tab. (Access your Communication tab by tapping the chat bubble at the bottom of the app.)
To see your total uens currently available, tap in the bottom right corner of the app - Your dashboard will display your current balance in the center of your screen.
4.8 - HOW DO I TRADE IN MY UENS FOR MONEY? CAN I GET PAID, EVEN IF I'M NOT IN THE UNITED STATES?Tap in the bottom right corner of the app to go to your profile, then tap the Cash Out button. (Look for the button with the little stack of coins.) Complete your details and payment information and tap Save when you're done!
You can request to cash out two ways: direct deposit ACH (to any US-based bank account), or PayPal (from any country supported)*. For both methods, payments will be listed on your statement from UenMe, LLC.
Please see sections 4.10, 4.11, 4.12 and 4.13 for more details on regulations and rules regarding cash outs.
*Local laws and rules apply. Please check with PayPal for more information about current exchange rates / fees for receiving money in your country.
4.9 - WHERE CAN I FIND MY BANK'S ROUTING NUMBER AND MY ACCOUNT NUMBER?To receive your cash outs to a US-based bank account, you'll need to enter your real name, phone number, email address, routing and account number. If you have a check handy, click HERE for a guide on where to find these on your check. If you do not have a check, you should contact your bank for help finding your routing and account numbers.
If you do not have a US-based bank account, you should set your payment preferences to receive payments via PayPal instead!
4.10 - HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET PAID? (Hint, we pay weekly)Our accounting department processes payment requests once a week. Whether you've cashed out once or a dozen times that week, all cash out requests wait in the "queue" until our accounting folks can process them.
UenMe distributes earnings twice weekly by the end of the day every Tuesday and Friday.
All cash-out requests made by noon the day prior of that distribution day are bulked together and paid in a single payment.
PayPal distribution funds are usually available immediately in your PayPal account.
Bank / ACH distributions take several business days for YOUR bank to process. Your distribution funds are generally available two to three days after distribution in your account.
Things that might delay your cash out:
- You haven't completed your banking or PayPal details yet
- There is an error with your banking or PayPal information
- You have entered bank information for a non-US-based bank account
- Your cash outs do not total the minimum payout threshold (see section 4.11)
- Verification of your transactions or payment details is taking longer than expected
After your cash out is initiated, the uens that are queued for payment will no longer display in your UenMe account but you can check the status of your earnings and distribution 24/7 using the Seller Console in the cash-out section of the app. You can also contact customer support for a status update. You can email email@example.com for an updateand we will help you out.
4.11 - ARE THERE FEES, MINIMUMS, OR LIMITS ON CASHING OUT?The minimum amount UenMe can approve to be paid out is $5.00 USD for payouts to a PayPal account or $30 to be paid out to a US-based bank account.
There are no fees to cash-out. None, zip, nada, zero, nothing.
Only Uens you earn can be cashed out. If you purchased uens or received uens for free from an admin for any reason, you will not be able to cash out those Uens. If your account contains a mix of purchased and earned uens, we will automatically calculate which uens can be cashed out for you.
4.12 - I SUBMITTED A PAYMENT REQUEST FOR LESS THAN THE MINIMUM. WHAT HAPPENS NOW?We hold that payment and any others, until the total of all of your cash out requests comes to $5 if you're requesting a PayPal payment, or $30 if you're requesting payment to your US-based bank account.
If you've requested payment to your bank account for less than $30, you can switch your payment preference to PayPal and we will be able to issue payment for cash outs over $5.
4.13 - CAN I CASH OUT MY UENS IF I'VE DELETED MY ACCOUNT?Your Uens are forfeited if you delete your account, so make sure to cash out first!
